Problems on production and productivity in meat filiere

The production sector of livestock products is considered as a priority for such reasons that are connected to the fact that Albania has quite optimal conditions for livestock breeding. But nevertheless, production, productivity and efficiency in this sector are quite low.
This situation is determined by the fact that livestock production farms have as base aim milk production, while meat production represents a secondary objective. Furthermore, what should be noted, relates to the fact that the producers that breed calves for meat are not oriented toward meat processing industry, but for fresh consumption. In this context, the support of meat production industry and good management of value chain remains two fundamental problems.
